quick update

I feel like a total slacker.

Levi is playing on the floor right now. He's getting more and more "mobile" by rolling quickly across the blanket across the room.... A glimpse of the fast mover he will soon become. Sitting has given him a new view of things but still he's a bit of a wobble butt.

I've only taken 2 pictures this entire week and am so annoyed about it! I can't believe I've been so busy that I've neglected that. But in the big picture I haven't developed any in the last what 3 months!!?? Ok that puts it into perspective. I let things like this worry me, I do. I'm going to do better this week.

I'm really looking forward to my first Mother's Day. (Hopefully a photo op will present itself with the 2 of us) I have always been the picture taker-- I need to work on Tim a bit on taking them. I try to wait for the right shot and he just snaps away--- once again-- a patience and time issue.

SO I promise to get on here and post again soon.

Making memories

I've noticed so many things happening in the last few days. It's absolutely amazing what a few days of sunshine bring. For example:

The buds on the trees are "hatching" into little green leaves.

I walk out the door at the house and smell the beautiful fragrance of hyacinths. My favorite spring flower-- next are the lilacs, which are budding wildly too.

Yesterday I attended a bridal shower and for the first time sat and tried to pay attention as I was now a "mommy" and not a mommy wannabe. It was a beautiful shower and was so thankful for the life I have as wife and mom. It's good to see people fall in love, stay in love, and do things the old fashioned way.

On the way home as dear Levi slept peacefully, the breeze in the sunroof of my car I smelled the delicious scent of fresh mowed grass. A true sign that summer is approaching. Seeing the splashes of color in people's flowerbeds made me smile.

I don't know, maybe it's strange that I notice these things at all. But I try every season to take it all in. I notice the changes in order to appreciate how quickly things change and pass by.

I'm excited to see the nice weather hang around.

Now on to the changes I've noticed in my little man. I love him sooo much. He will be six months old in a few days and has entered a new phase- interactive and Mr. Social. His smiles light up his whole face and I love that gummy, drooly grin.
He's started squealing and it's adorable. When he gets going he sounds like a little dolphin. A strange comparison but cute.

He loves pulling his feet up in his hands and rolling back and forth from side to side. I don't know if they(his feet) will make it to his mouth- his legs seem too long and his belly in the way. I can't talk much I know I couldn't even begin to attempt that move.

He is such a good eater. He hasn't found anything he doesn't like. As soon as he gets in his highchair, he knows what's next.... food. He looks longingly at his bottle while he eats his food.... soon I will have that.

I don't know what I did to deserve such a perfect little boy. I cried and tried so long for this darling and now he's here and I don't know what I'd done before. How I'd lived without him. He fills my entire heart everytime I look at him. I'm eternally grateful for him coming into our life.

AS much as I don't want to rush the time more than it's already going, I look forward to watching him feel the grass on his feet and sand between his toes. To see him chase waves someday on the beach. Come to the door for lunch covered in mud and a smile. Help Grandpa stack firewood and hammer nails. Because where I'm from there was always fun in the work we did. Oh the memories.

I honestly can not believe the time has gone so fast. You hear it time and time again-- but you don't know how fast it goes until it has flown by you personally. Too fast! I sit and look at our darling boy and wonder how it went so quickly. He's grown so much in the past few months. Becoming more independent every day. Becoming a little man. His personality is beginning to show us it's catching up to his fast growing body! What a hoot he is too. Today he decided he was going to show everyone where his tongue was-- all day long! I'd ask" Levi where's your tongue?" And a next thing you know he's got his little tongue hanging out in the wind. hehe. It was the cutest thing ever!

He has started on solid foods. He's loving peas, Squash, carrots and green beans as well as the cereal and oatmeal. Little piggy hasn't found a food he doesn't like yet. I'm thinking soon we will have a tooth or two show up. For some time now he's been a drool machine and lately he's constantly chewing on his hands and whatever else he can get in there.

He also got his first haircut last weekend. He was a big boy, got to sit on Daddy's lap while the barber snipped and shaped his darling locks into a little boy cut! So cute! Makes him look lots older, but at least the balding look is gone. He badly needs to start rolling over--- well it's better now. He's getting there and with his hair evened up it doesn't look nearly as bad. :) Just to me I suppose.

I'll attach some pictures. I know I've been slacking on here. I'm really trying to keep up. My handwritten journal is about 2 months behind (at least) so it's difficult. I gotta get caught up.

Before I was a mom....

Thanks Rachel for sending this to me. I thought I'd share it here.
You are a great friend and an awesome Mom!!
***********************************
Before I was a Mom ,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom ,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom ,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom ,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom .

Before I was a Mom ,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom ,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom .
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .
